Galatians 5 tells us that we have been called to liberty. Patrick Henry once said, "Give me Liberty or give me death." Twenty years later, he was concerned about our loss of the liberty we had achieved.
And, whilst I see the dangers that threaten ours from [France’s] intrigues and her arms, [I am more alarmed at] her destroying the great pillars of all government and of social life, — I mean virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible. These are the tactics we should study. If we lose these, we are conquered, fallen indeed. (Patrick Henry, 1799)
